The musicians of Joe Simon Jazz have played a part in everything from intimate garden ceremonies to raucous receptions second-lining through the streets of New Orleans. All weddings welcome.
Joe Simon Jazz offers the following wedding services individually or in combination to suit your needs.
Ceremony
Music for a typical New Orleans style ceremony often includes:
-Approximately 15 minutes of instrumental background music as the guests are seated
-A pleasant tune for the wedding party entrance
-A different song for the penultimate Bridal Entrance
–The recessional
Often the wedding party picks songs from our list, or suggests one within our style of music.

Bridal Entrance: Here Comes the Bride, What a Wonderful World, La Vie en Rose
Recessional: Way Down Yonder in N.O. , Down By the Riverside , When the Saints Go Marching In
These are some of the songs we’ve performed at many weddings.. We are comfortable with setting the mood by ourselves: and are open to any suggestions you may have within the genre of music we play (N.O. Jazz and standards).
Reception
A traditional reception may include:
Cocktail hour– after the ceremony featuring New Orleans Jazz favorites and jazz standards
Dinner– background music to allow for dinner conversation, speeches, etc.
After dinner party– Including first couple’s dance, father/daughter dance, wedding party recognition, bouquet/garter toss, etc.
A 3-6 piece band is recommended.
Second Line/Escort
Joe Simon can provide a second line/escort band from 3-8 pieces from the ceremony to the reception or from the reception to an after party location.
